Gov. Brad Little has issued a statewide stay-at-home order during a press conference Wednesday.
The order goes into effect immediately and will stay in effect for 21 days, ending April 15.
A stay-at-home order is the same as a shelter-in-place order and is asking Idahoans to stay at home unless they have to leave for essential reasons. Those reasons can be to utilize essential services such as the grocery store or for people who have essential work.
Essential work is considered medical professionals, food service employees, janitorial staff or anyone whos service is remaining open and can’t work from home.
Little was unclear on whether those who don’t follow the stay-at-home order will face legal issues, like being arrested.
“Our goal isn’t to arrest people, our goal is to keep Idahoans safe by maintaining this stay-at-home order,” Little said.
The full order will be released online later today and will be available in Spanish.
