In light of Gov. Brad Little’s stay-at-home order the University of Idaho has closed all non-essential buildings effective immediately, according to an email from President C. Scott Green Wednesday evening. Students will be allowed to stay on campus though the Bruce M. Pitman Center, Idaho Student Union Building, the Library and other buildings will be closed. The HUB will remain open.
“While buildings on campus, as well as at all our statewide locations, are closed to the public, support services for students are still available,” Green said in the email. “If you need services from any office, call the office or send an email to [email protected]. If you need technology assistance or need a computing device to complete your studies, contact the ITS Student Technology Center.”
For students that do not have access to computers UI is still offering iPads and Chromebooks, Jodi Walker, director of communications said.
Staff and Faculty are asked to work from home unless their managers classify their jobs as essential.
Those who cannot work at home and do not have jobs that classify as essential cannot return to work.
“Guidance from the state received late Wednesday clarifies that you will retain pay to the extent possible through the use of administrative leave, compensatory time, accrued sick or annual leave, or through the provisions of emergency paid sick leave or emergency family leave as defined by the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA),” Green said in the email.
