Paulette Jordan drew a small crowd of about 30 University of Idaho students and community members on Wednesday night when she visited campus to speak about her 2020 U.S. Senate campaign.
The event was organized by Morgan Chaffee, a field organizer for Jordan’s campaign and UI student. Chaffee said she also live-streamed the event for those who couldn’t make it, and that drew another 30 audience members.
“I expected a smaller turnout due to COVID-19 as well as midterms going on, but overall I was happy with the event,” Chaffee said.
Chaffee said she originally reached out to Jordan via Instagram message in response to Doug Wilson’s Feb. 5 “Lost Virtue of Sexism” lecture on campus, as she thought protesting that event wasn’t enough.
“I just wanted to throw an event with contrasting ideals, and Paulette is an inspirational woman and speaker.”
Now Chaffee works closely with Paulette’s campaign and is currently working to organize upcoming April events with the Senate candidate on campus and in the greater Moscow community.
Jordan, a Democrat, will challenge Republican incumbent Senator Jim Risch in the November 2020 election.
