This Monday and Tuesday I sat on the couch and watched the finale of Peter’s journey on “The Bachelor.” Usually every season when I scroll through my social media, I stumble onto spoilers on how the season ends.
I read Reality Steve spoilers before the finale aired. But it wasn’t fully accurate, and the finale still left me screaming at the television.
I had my worries about Peter’s season regarding his final two women. If you’ve been a regular follower of my column, you may have noticed I have been cheering on Madison to win Peter’s heart from the beginning.
She is so sweet and has such a kind soul. With everything that happened in fantasy suites it made me wonder, maybe she’s better then Peter? Sadly, they fought too much and once she met Peter’s family, she decided to leave.
Barb, Peter’s mom, told him that she wasn’t there for him. Not only that, his family thought she would change him based on her religion. C’mon. It’s 2020. People can love and be with whoever they want to regardless of race, gender and even religion. This appalled me and it didn’t seem like she gave Madison a chance.
It seems to me that family is a big thing for Madison, and this scared her away from Peter.
Hannah Ann was welcomed with open arms by his family and yet Peter still seemed like he wanted his family to feel equally excited about Madison even though they weren’t.
He was very torn up about this and it seemed that even though Hannah Ann was loved by the family, Peter kind of moved on from that entirely. And even though Madison left, he was still in love with her.
But every finale of “The Bachelor” has to end in an engagement right? In Peter’s mind it did.
He proposed to Hannah Ann and told her he will choose her every single day. They both looked a bit awkward during the proposal and it felt sort of forced to me. Plus, it was only 30 minutes into the episode when it happened and I knew something else was coming.
He broke her heart.
This season feels a lot like Arie Luyendyk’s season of “The Bachelor.” To be fair, both were horrible situations but the way Peter handled the end of the season felt off to me. In my opinion, the bachelor should not propose to a woman unless he is 100 percent sure in his decision.
Since Peter was not, he took that moment away from Hannah Ann. But she was great when she talked to him on “After the Final Rose.” She roasted him in front of everyone and I was there for it! Part of me did wish that she showed some compassion to Peter in a way, but she was also very justified.
Then him and Madison got back together after the fact. This seemed skummy to me. She took him back in an instant which was odd to me — they didn’t really show much of a conversation between the two of them deciding what’s next. I think if they did, it would have showed more of their relationship.
But let’s stop for a second and talk about Barb. Oh Barb. The internet exploded with memes of Barb’s face reacting to Madison being Peter’s choice in the end. She obviously hates Madison and made that super apparent on the show.
I thought I would be content with Madison and Peter being together, but I wasn’t. Peter doesn’t seem like he’s ready for an engagement let alone a relationship. I’m disappointed in him. And frankly, I don’t see Madison and Peter working out. They had lots of chemistry on the show and then last night, I didn’t really see too much of it — and I wish I saw more.
Well that’s a wrap. Thanks for following me along on Peter’s journey. Talk next time Bachelor Nation.
