ASUI Senate discusses funding for Vote 4 Her

ASUI Senate met Feb. 19 at the University of Idaho.

Big-ticket items:

  • Support for “Our Kids, Our Future”
    • When discussing mental health in schools in a House Education Committee meeting Feb. 11, three Idaho representatives walked out. “Our Kids, Our Future” recommended the state invest $1 million to train teachers to recognize at-risk students, but some representatives failed to support the initiative.
    • ASUI Senate passed a resolution stating support of improved mental health training for teachers in Idaho and disapproval of representatives’ inability to hold an open and civil discourse.
  • Vote 4 Her
    • The Senate discussed funding for ASUI’s annual event supporting female involvement in politics. This conference brings speakers to discuss the topic of women in public office.
