On the evening of Feb. 10 AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Spectrum users found they did not have service.
The Argonaut spoke with these service providers and the University of Idaho campus about these outages, and this is what they said:
Service for AT&T went down because of a car accident that tore down parts of a cable that provided cell service to the area, said Suzanne Trantow, lead public relations manager for the Rocky Mountain Southwest region of AT&T.
Trantow said AT&T resorted service.
Bret Picciolo, Spectrum senior director of communication for the Northwest region, said Spectrum restored their service. Spectrum has not provided any other details at this time.
Dan Ewart, vice president of Information Technology, confirmed UI’s campus was not affected, as UI runs on a different system.
Verizon spokesperson Heidi Flato has not responded to a request for comment yet.
The Argonaut will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
