7 p.m. Wednesday | Distinguished Visiting Writer, Luis Alberto Urrea: Public Reading
1912 Center, Great Room
UI’s Creative Writing Program will host a public reading and writer’s studio conversation with the 2019 Distinguished Visiting Writer. Urrea was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005 for nonfiction and is a member of the Latino Literature Hall of Fame. He has written 17 books, the most recent of which is his novel The House of Broken Angels.
6 p.m. Thursday | Ancient Tattooing: An Overview of Tattoo Tools and Traditions through time
Moscow Public Library, 110 S. Jefferson St.
WSU PhD Candidate Andrew Gillreath-Brown will share a brief overview of ancient tattooing and display the cactus spine tattoo tool replicas he used to experiment. Gillreath-Brown was published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports earlier this year for his work identifying the oldest tattooing implement in Western North America. Attendees will have the opportunity to try experimental tattooing. The program is geared toward adults but open to the public.
4:00 p.m. Friday | Tri-State Hospital Foundation Festival of Trees

The Tri-State Hospital Foundation will present their 35th Annual Festival of Trees this Friday and Saturday. The festival will include creatively decorated trees, festive treats and more. For more details on the event, visit the Tri-State Festival of Trees website.
11:30 a.m. Saturday | Moscow Yoga at The Prichard
The Prichard Art Gallery
Yoga instructor Marcia Gossard will lead a free yoga class at The Prichard Art Gallery. The class will take place in David Paul Bayles’ exhibit “Sap In Their Veins.” Some yoga mats will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own. Donations are also encouraged.
Sunday | Utah Backpack Trip
Grand Staircase, Escalante, Utah
Participants are invited to explore a maze of red sandstone canyons with the Outdoor Program Office this weekend. The trip will cost $210 for students and $290 for all others. There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 19. The trip itself will last November 24 through November 30. Sign-ups are available at the Outdoor Program Office in the Student Recreation Center.
