A former Idaho football player was arrested for a fatal hit-and-run in Louisiana on Aug. 29.
Kyree Curington was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup truck on Louisiana interstate 59 when he merged into the left lane, hit a man operating a motorcycle and caused him to run into a traffic barrier. The man, 38-year-old Bobby Allison Jr., died at the scene, reported the Idaho Statesman.
Curington then fled the scene before eventually turning himself in, according to the Statesman.
The former Idaho athlete could now face up to 20 years in Louisiana prison for the hit-and-run charge, reported the Statesman. According to the report, alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the incident.
Curington was accused of felony rape in December 2018 and suspended from the UI football team and indefinitely academically disqualified. His rape charge was reduced to misdemeanor sexual battery after the parties came to a mutual agreement. He pled guilty to the charge in Latah County District Court in August 2019.
Curington was sentenced to unsupervised probation until Jan. 1, 2020 and was required to register as a sex offender in Louisiana.
