Idaho took seventh place at the Big Sky Championship in Boulder City, Nevada over last weekend.
The Vandals traveled to the Boulder Creek Golf Club to participate in the championships with a five man lineup and a back up.
The lineup consisted of senior Enrique Marin, junior Sean Langham, sophomore Travis Hansen, sophomore Cole Chrisman and freshman Colt Sherrell.
“Not the day we had hoped for,” head coach David Nuhn said in a news release. “We got ourselves a little bit behind headed into the weekend. It was a combination of several things out there, mainly mistakes made by me as a coach.”
Sherell and Chrisman led the pack both sitting at a 3-over 75 after the first 18.
Marin, after recovering from an injury earlier this Spring, sat close behind them with a 4-over 76 with Hansen one stroke behind him with a 5-over 77.
The Vandals finished the day with a 15-over 303 sitting in seventh place eight strokes behind the sixth place Weber State.
Idaho went into round two with nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Chrisman again led the pack with an even 72.
Marin was a stroke behind him carding a 1-over 73, Sherrell one behind him with a 2-over 74 and Hansen finished with a 3-over 75.
Vandals improved on the previous days score, but were still behind with their 599 team score. Binghamton, the sixth place team was 22 strokes ahead with a 577.
Idaho played a good final round putting up the best score of the tournament.
Marin, Sherrell and Chrisman came back with a three way 1-under 71 during the second round.
Langham was subbed out during the second round for Glenn who put up fourth score of 2-over 74.
Hansen did not make the scoring quartet with his 10-over 82 during the last.
Idaho finished in seventh place with a total score of 886, 23 strokes behind the sixth place team.
Chrisman, placed the best individually tying for 19th while Marin and Sherrell both tied for 21st overall.
Marin, was placed on the Big Sky First Team, a team made up of the top five golfers in the conference and Sherrell was named Big Sky Freshman of the Year.
While the Vandals didn’t get a podium spot for the championship, they did receive great honors as a team.
