OMA, CAMP to host interactive workshop on Cinco de Mayo

Many Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo without understanding the real meaning of this day.

In an interactive workshop taught by faculty from the University of Idaho Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) and the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), misconceptions about the holiday and Mexican culture will be discussed.

“This interactive workshop filled with facts dialogue and tips will help participants enhance their cultural competence around this trending topic,” the event page reads.

Instructors for the course include OMA Director Jesse Martinez and CAMP Advising Specialist Christina Vazquez-Ayala.

The course in zoom capable however registration must be done at least 48 hours in advance. Zoom capabilities can be found by emailing [email protected].

The one-hour workshop starts at 4 p.m. Monday in the Bruce Pitman Center.
