With just three meetings left, the ASUI Senate meeting lasted just under 20 minutes last Wednesday night. There was no unfinished business or new business presented on the agenda.
Sen. Kristen Nesbitt said she is still working on the TedXUIdaho event, and is still looking for participants, particularly those in the entertainment fields.
Sen. Riley Ragain said she has officially gotten recycling services provided by Moscow Recycling at the Delta Gamma house. She said representatives from Moscow Recycling spoke to members of Delta Gamma and Phi Delta Theta about how to properly recycle.
Ragain said that she is currently meeting with Sodexo to work on sustainability and would like to create a team of students to focus on the effort.
The bulk of the meeting was dedicated to updates from ASUI President Nicole Skinner.
Skinner said ASUI Cabinet position applications are still open. Those interested in applying can access application and position descriptions on VandalSync. Skinner also referenced an ASUI bill that was passed last semester by then Sen. Samraragyee Gautum to provide free menstrual products in bathrooms on campus.
“I’m trying to work out a solution to make that sustainable long term,” Skinner said.
Skinner said she is working on seeing where they could be funds pulled from and utilized over time to ensure the availability of products.
Skinner also said work on the Legislative Report card has begun. ASUI Lobbyist Amaia Griggs has already compiled a list of bills that she believes are higher education related and the related voted records, according to Skinner.
