Today is the day. The day we have all been preparing to play pranks on friends or being the person who is prepared for the unexpected.
April Fools’ day has been around for quite some time. But it is a cultural holiday that should not even exist.
April Fools’ Day, also called All Fools’ Day has been celebrated for several centuries, but its origins remain a mystery according to history.com. There are many speculations on how this ridiculous holiday began, but it has been going on for way too long.
April Fools’ needs to turn into any other regular day and the holiday needs to disappear.
They can be harmful to other people and frankly, most April Fools’ jokes just are not funny or any less memorable.
Pranks have never really been my thing on April Fools’ and I’ve never had any spectacular pranks played on me before that made me laugh until I cry.
Maybe that is why I am so bah humbug about the holiday. Nothing has happened to me so why should it exist in the first place?
The classic post-it note prank on the car? Toothpaste in Oreos? Filling a vehicle with balloons or plastic wrapping it entirely? These are stupid pranks and quite frankly all pranks performed on April Fools’ should end.
Humans have been celebrating this holiday for centuries but what is the point anymore in it? Why is it so important for us to celebrate it?
Do we use this holiday for an excuse to be pranksters toward those we love and for it to be OK? Yes. But it can get out of hand.
There’s no reason for these pranks to exist and are not even funny. Even though these jokes aren’t in the best taste, some are worse. People have experienced these kinds of pranks today or have experienced them in the past that left a bad taste in their mouth. These are the types of pranks people do not want to be tricked into believing.
The “hey I’m pregnant” or “I just got in a car accident” can be far too serious and are a recipe for disaster. This is a great way to give someone a heart attack or a stroke. People playing these pranks on others and saying these kinds of things is just plain rude.
People need to stop playing these kinds of pranks on others and realize that they can have repercussions. What if your family member actually got into a car accident on April Fools’ and you just did not believe it?
Sure, jokes can be all fun and games, but think before you play a prank on someone important in your life.
We need to rethink this holiday and its importance. The solution to all the April Fools’ madness is to just simply ban the holiday. I would enjoy my day much more if it was any other regular day.
Every day can be April Fools’ and it would be much better to be surprised by a prank than to be expecting one.
