Running a University costs a lot of money, and while students pay thousands of dollars in tuition and fees, that money doesn’t cover everything.
That’s where Vandal Giving Day steps in, a web-based donation platform put on by the Annual Giving Department.
“It really is pride and support that rounds out the college experience,” said Eric Billings, director of Annual Giving. “State money and tuition dollars only go so far.”
This year Annual Giving has created an event within Vandal Giving Day that show students where their money is going, along with other on-campus events aimed to get students involved with the campaign.
“We’ll have a command center set up in the ASUI Student Lounge where people can stop by and see behind the scenes of us running the whole campaign,” Billings said. “In the rotunda, we’ll have classic video games set up for faculty, staff and students to play classic video games.”
Billings said the event while also feature philanthropy events including when does tuition run out and coin quest, in which there will be Joe Vandal chocolate coins in locations across campus with clues for people to find them.
Aside from the on-campus events, people can visit the Vandal Giving Day website to make donations and participate in challenges through this year’s video game themed platform. The event will open up at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 and close 1,889 minutes later, at 5:29 p.m., according to Billings.
Those who cannot donate are encouraged to participate as an ambassador. Ambassadors are given their own dashboard as well as different tools to promote Vandal Giving Day through social media such as Facebook cover photos.
