The last ASUI Senate meeting before election has lasted just over 20 minutes.

The Senate unanimously passed a bill affirming the position of the ASUI Supreme Court as the Appellate Body in ASUI Elections. This bill added a new section to the ASUI Rules and Regulations that states the ASUI Elections Coordinator must obtain an affirmative decision from the ASUI Supreme Court before proceeding with the disqualification process.

The Supreme Court will also take over duties previously performed by the Rules and Regulations Committee, such as decisions on fines and the appeal of rulings by the ASUI Elections Coordinator.

The Senate also passed a bill amending the ASUI rules and regulations to adjust the organization of cabinet position descriptions. The bill aims to alleviate confusion of organization and shift the job descriptions to a more concise order.

Sen. Hannah Spear encouraged Senators to spread the word on the upcoming Vote 4 Her event Tuesday, April 9. The event will center on women in politics. Speakers for the event include State Rep. Caroline Nilsson Troy, Rep. Megan Blanksma and City Council Member Anne Zabala.

Spear said she would like to see an equal number of both men and women at the event.

There was no new business presented at the meeting. ASUI President Nicole Skinner was not present.
