Vandal Health Education will host a free showing of “Moonlight” Tuesday evening as part of their monthly Mental Health Film Series in the University of Idaho Agriculture Science Building Auditorium.
The 2017 Oscar Best Picture film, which stars Mahershala Ali and Janelle Monae, centers on a young black man — Chiron, played by Ashton Sanders — growing up in Miami.
“Moonlight” looks at three major chapters in Chiron’s life on his journey to manhood. He is guided there by “the kindness, support and love of the community that helps raise him.”
“After the screening, join us for a discussion of the film, representation of mental health in media and an opportunity to ask questions related to mental health,” the Facebook event reads. “Join the conversation about mental health at the University of Idaho.”
No tickets are needed to attend the 6:30 p.m. showing, and snacks will be provided.
