The ASUI Senate heard a variety of project updates at their first meeting of the new year Wednesday.
ASUI President Nicole Skinner told the Senate that there are conversations between ASUI and UI President Chuck Staben in regard to the construction of the Idaho Central Credit Union Arena.
Skinner said conversations are focused on a usage agreement to make sure students have adequate usage of the arena.
Skinner said she is currently working with faculty leadership to bring a presentation to ASUI on the plus/minus grading system and hopes to talk about pros and cons of the system.
Skinner said the dedicated student activity fee process is starting. Skinner, along with other student representatives, are putting together a recommendation to Staben about what programs they feel should receive student activity fee increases for the upcoming fiscal year.
“It’s a very exciting opportunity,” Skinner said. “We’re also trying to think of more ways to involve more students in the process.”
ASUI Chief of Staff Sean Collins said ASUI is still seeking applicants for a Vice Chair of Philanthropy, Funding Board Vice Chair, Faculty Senate Representative and Director of Diversity Affairs. Applications and job descriptions can be found on VandalSync and close on Jan 23.
ASUI Sen. Jacob Lockhart said bikes from the upcoming bike share program should be on campus by April 1. Lockhart said permanent funding is still being sought out.
