The Vandals swim and dive hosted Washington State on Saturday in their second home meet of the season.
The Cougars took the victory 159-129 after a competitive meet. Idaho took home four victories against a Washington State team that does not field a diving team.
Idaho freshman Natalie Crocker won the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 24.04 seconds. The time was an improvement of more than a tenth of a second over her last week’s performance against Boise State.
Idaho did not take any wins in the relays, but each team made early-season improvements. The 200-yard medley team comprised of Katie Hale, Emily Kliewer, Aimee Iwamoto and Crocker shaved .16 off their previous time and took third place on Saturday. The 400-yard freestyle relay made some of the biggest strides of anyone on the team, but they still couldn’t quite get over the hump against the Cougars.
The team of Crocker, Kliewer, Sarah Hall, and Leah Fisk dropped six seconds down to a time of 3:33.07.
Kliewer also secured a personal victory in the 100-yard fly. The senior finished with a time of 56.92 seconds, a full second ahead of Hale in second place.
The Vandals will continue a run of home meets against Northern Arizona 10:30 a.m. Nov. 3 in the UI Swim Center.
