Idaho finished its non-conference schedule with a record of 3-5-1, where it played against three opponents form the Pac-12, two of which were ranked in the top-25 in the country.
Portland State went 2-5-0 in its non-conference schedule. They also played two common opponents from Idaho’s non-conference — Oregon and Seattle University. Portland State lost to both schools — 0-5 against Oregon and 0-3 against Seattle. Idaho also lost to Oregon 0-2, and came back to win against Seattle in overtime 3-2
Idaho has an all-time record of 7-5-0 against Portland State, but since both schools have been in the Big Sky, they hold an even record with each other of 2-2-0. When the two schools met last season, the Vikings were able to take a 2-1 win in the Kibbie Dome.
Idaho is the top ranked team in the Big Sky for the first edition of the NCAA RPI, being 113th in the country, with Northern Colorado ranked as the next closest at 116th.
Idaho plays Portland State 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21) in the Kibbie Dome.
