The ASUI Senate’s Wednesday meeting began with a moment of silence in remembrance of Katherine Grogett who passed away Friday.
Bill F18-R01 was created in memory of Groggett. The senate resolution, which is intended to be publicly distributed after it is passed, honors Groggett’s contributions to the University of Idaho, and her place in the Vandal family. All ASUI senators sponsored this bill.
The remainder of the meeting involved discussions on other bills, such as bill F18-BO4, which moves to allocate $6,000 from the General Reserve fund for news computers in the Department of Student Involvement.
Two bills involved motions to amend ASUI Rules and Regulations to remove a section now deemed outdated and unnecessary. The second would amend ASUI rules and regulations in regard to eligibility for ASUI. The bill aimed to remove redundancy and “unnecessary” information, modernize crisis training regulations and clarify the necessity of being in good standing with UI.
Another bill moved to allocate funds to purchase pizza for events throughout the fall semester.
A bill also moved to approve $200 to be pulled from the senate allocation budget to reimburse the Women’s center for ‘Take Back the Night’ event T-shirts.
The bills are expected to be voted on at next week’s ASUI Senate meeting.
ASUI President Nicole Skinner told the senate student polls will be released every Tuesday to get more feedback from students on university wide issue.
