A University of Idaho student was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near Nez Perce Road east of Lewiston.
Katherine Groggett, 20, of Mountain Home, Idaho, was turning left on U.S. Highway 95 around 1 p.m. when her Toyota Corolla collided with a northbound Dodge Durango driven by Wesley Twitchell, 23, of Winchester, Idaho, according to Idaho State Police.
She was hit by the SUV on the driver’s side and pronounced dead at the scene.
Groggett was traveling with two other UI students — sophomore DeVonte Smith and senior Brianna Morrison — at the time of the accident, troopers said. The pair was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Twitchell and his passenger, Lesieli Mafi, were also transported to the Lewiston hospital following the crash.
All those involved were wearing seat belts, troopers said. No additional information has been released.
Groggett was a junior studying food and nutrition, as well as the president of the sorority Delta Delta Delta.
UI officials have not released a statement at this time.
