Moscow’s sweetest spots

The best eateries with sweet treats in Moscow

It’s no secret Moscow is pretty well-known for its bar-hopping and coffee-hopping mobility. Whether it be a cafe or a bar, there is something for every taste on every corner.

But, sometimes, you crave something a little sweeter. Here are the best Moscow spots to go dessert-hopping and satisfy your sweet tooth.

Moscow Food Co-op — $

If you’re in a hurry, the Moscow Food Co-op always has an array of sweet treats in the bakery section. Gluten-free, vegan and regular options are all available.

The pecan bars are a year-long favorite and a staple in the bakery. Each bar is like a pie in portable form

The cupcakes all come in vegan, gluten-free and regular options with all kinds of frosting to match. With flavors like chocolate, vanilla, carrot and lemon among others, it’s hard to run out of options.

Perhaps the most abundant sweet in the store is the cookie selection. Buy them in packages of six, 12 or just one, there are countless flavors like chocolate chip, lemon, raspberry. Peanut butter and coconut macaron.

Maialina Pizzeria Napoletana — $$

Maialina’s is pretty much known for its extensive pizza and wine list, but underneath all that savory is the perfect touch of sweetness.

The olive oil cake is one of the best items on the list. It’s coated in a sweet syrup and has just the right texture from the olive oil.

There is nothing better than coffee and ice cream. The affogato on the menu does it best. It has candied nuts, biscotti and warm espresso.

The tiramisu is another favorite also drenched in espresso. The coffee dipped biscuits and the sweet mascarpone combine to make a wonderfully sweet treat.

Joy Ice Cream — $

If you’re looking to do a one-stop-shop of dinner, dessert and coffee, look no further than Martin’s Square on 2nd Street. The area has biscuits, pizza, coffee and ice cream all in one big building.

Joy has an array of ice cream flavors like the pistachio almond, huckleberry, lemon meringue, cotton candy and mango sorbet.

Gambinos — $$

In the mood for a frozen treat, but tired of regular ice cream? Gambino’s gelato might do the trick. A bit creamier in texture, Gambinos has several flavors to try from.

Aptly named “The Godfather,” Gambinos’ giant gelato sandwich with two fresh chocolate chip cookies, hot fudge, caramel and whipped cream is a great treat to share with a group of people after dinner.

You can’t go wrong with the cheesecake. The best way to order is the massive cheesecake topped with huckleberry glaze.

Perhaps the sweetest treat on the menu is the 20 mini fried donuts that come in an order of zeppoles. Fried, sweet and topped with chocolate, caramel or huckleberry, you have to try them at least once.

JAMMS Frozen Yogurt — $

JAMMs Frozen Yogurt may not be right downtown, but it’s a great way to add variety to your dessert choices.

JAMMs has a variety of usual frozen yogurt options, but the fun comes in all the toppings you can add yourself.

It’s a cheaper way to treat yourself. But beware, pull down the handle for too long and you’ll have a $15 dollar cup of yogurt.
