The Vandal Nation staff discusses which storyline was the best this past year in Idaho sports.
Brandon Hill— FCS bound
While the football season may have ended in disappointment, I was always looking forward to next year’s potential at the FCS level.
Jonah Baker— Keeping the status quo
Learning that swim and dive, soccer and men’s golf will be staying was the biggest victory by anyone in the athletic department this year.
Meredith Spelbring— Senior six
Idaho athletics was nothing short of turbulent this year, but I loved the excitement that came from watching and following the men’s basketball team. It was a hard team not to like.
Zack Kellogg— Teams being almost cut
Scary moment when the University almost cut men’s golf, swim and dive, and women’s soccer. But for now, at least, they are here to stay and will make all Vandals proud.
Colton Clark— Idaho Women’s Golf
I’ll throw a curve. Sophie Hausmann and Enrique Marin each carded 7-under 65s at the BSC Tournaments – just a week apart. Both tied conference championship records. If you golf, you know how difficult even an 80 is. Real pro potential on the golf teams here.
Chris Deremer— Basketball Momentum
I think it is too hard to choose between both men’s and women’s basketball, so I am going to choose them both. Idaho basketball is starting to become a staple in the Big Sky, programs that are building more every year.
