Idaho women’s tennis had a rough day on Saturday, losing to Gonzaga 6-1.
The Idaho Vandals had a short trip to play the Gonzaga Bulldogs, resulting in their second loss of the season.
Idaho fell behind early and could not gain momentum back, dropping into a 3-0 deficit. Idaho’s only win on the day came in the match on court No. 1 with junior Marianna Petrei taking down Sophie Whittle, with the game coming down to a super tiebreak that Petrei won 10-7.
Idaho lost matches on courts No. 2, 3, 4 bringing those matches into the third set.
The Vandals looks to get things together with Big Sky play starting next week.
The Idaho Vandals will travel to North Dakota on Friday Feb. 16, and finish their trip at Northern Colorado on Feb. 18.
