In anticipation for more student involvement, the Greek life office has moved to the Department of Student Involvement (DSI) space on the third floor of the Commons.
Previously, the Greek life office resided in the Dean of Students Office, but recently moved to DSI early finals week.
Shawn Dowiak, assistant dean of students and director of fraternity and sorority life has a new office located in the ASUI conference room.
The new change, which occurred during finals week has received positive feedback from the students, Dowiak said.
ASUI President McKenzie MacDonald said the move occurred because the school wanted to bring the two involved communities together.
Director of Student Involvement Shawn O’Neal said the goals of both the DSI and the Greek life office are similar — student involvement.
Moving the Greek life office will help allow Greek and non-Greek students to interact with opportunities through community-wide programming, Dowiak said.
With intentional programs organized to mix Greek and non-Greek students, it would break down the silos between the two groups. By moving the Greek life office into DSI, Dowiak said it will allow students to interact with each other.
