The future of Moscow is up to you on Nov. 7.
City elections in Moscow will choose a Mayor, three City Council members who will have four-year terms and one Council member who will have a two-year term.
Why does this matter to you? You’re a student, you will be leaving Moscow for “the real world’ soon and that will be the end of that!
Well, it matters — a lot!
I’m Linda Pall, candidate for Mayor. I want to lead the city and make sure that we are a great home for the University of Idaho, students and faculty. City policies can encourage better and more affordable housing, development that creates a university district in the urban renewal area and is a welcoming, streets that handle bike lanes and pedestrian traffic as well as cars and trucks. I was the spark plug behind the Paradise Path and the Moscow Farmers Market. I’m proud of Moscow, America’s best hometown!
I bring a lifetime of working for the people of Moscow, whether as a city council member for 18 years, as a lawyer defending people who are victims of discrimination or as a professor of business law at WSU and adjunct professor at the UI College of Law. When I retired from teaching in May 2013, I established a scholarship at each university to address student needs.
As one who believes in the rule of law and civil liberties that are the foundation of our country, I have stood up for the DACA students, The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program deserves to be protected. Our Mayor should speak up for American values of welcome and hospitality, protecting the students who didn’t decide whether to come to the U.S. or not. Our Mayor should welcome people to be part of city government and treated with respect and courtesy when they express their opinions and ideas about city government.
Gonzaga University and Washington State University have both recognized my work supporting diversity and equal opportunity. I am proud to have taught thousands of students over the years and given them tools to create positive change. When you are thinking about Moscow on Tuesday, November 7, vote Linda for Mayor — your vote is your voice!
Sincerely,
Linda Pall
