Four individuals were injured after an explosion occurred in the parking lot of the University of Idaho steam plant at about 9:52 p.m. Thursday night.
Vice President of Infrastructure Dan Ewart said the four were transported to Gritman Medical Center — three of them are in stable condition, one is in critical condition. As of late Thursday evening, Ewart could not confirm the identities of the individuals. He said the campus has been determined to be safe, and Sixth Street is open.
Moscow Police Captain Tyson Berrett said the explosion did not damage nearby buildings or cars. FBI officials arrived at the scene as part of emergency protocol.
Grant Thurman, who was at the scene, said the explosion was caused by a rocket test done by the Northwest Organization of Rocket Engineers, to which he is a member. He said the fuel burned too fast.
