The University of Idaho campus is closed today, Jan. 18, with all classes canceled due to poor weather conditions that threaten the safety of university students, faculty and staff.
Jodi Walker, with UI Communications, said the freezing rain Moscow received last night developed ice on the roads and sidewalks, which put individuals on campus in enough danger to warrant closing the university for the day. She said the recommendation to close the campus came from Vice President of Infrastructure Dan Ewart, and UI President Chuck Staben approved the decision.
Walker said UI Facilities and security are monitoring the weather and road conditions today to evaluate whether campus will be closed again tomorrow.
