Postseason aspirations for the Vandal volleyball team took another hit Thursday when Idaho dropped a three-set road match 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-18) to Sacramento State.
The Hornets (6-3, 12-11 overall) used 14 team kills to claim a back-and-forth first set, despite seven digs from Vandal defensive specialist Terra Varney.
Sacramento State gained momentum in the second set. The Hornets recorded a 10-2 run midway through the set.
After falling behind in the third set, Sacramento State produced a 7-0 run and won the third set and the victory, despite a late comeback attempt by Idaho.
The Vandals (2-8, 7-14) recorded a .092 hitting percentage on the night, compared to .278 percent for the Hornets.
Sophomore outside hitter Kaela Straw sparked the Idaho offense with eight kills, and Varney finished with 15 digs. Sophomore setter Haylee Mathis and freshman setter Megan Ramseyer combined for 22 assists for Idaho.
The Vandals take on Portland State (3,-6 11-10 overall) 7 p.m. Saturday meeting at the Peter W. Stott Center.
