UI Swim and Dive cheers to start the meet featuring teams from both Simon Fraser and Whitman last Friday Oct. 16 at UI Swim Center.

The Idaho swim team finished in ninth place with 544 points and broke two school records at the Phil Hansel Invitational Thursday to Saturday in Houston.

The Vandals began with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. They finished seventh in the 400-yard medley relay.

Freshmen Erica King and Sarah Hall had strong individual scores in their events. King finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle, setting a new school record with a time of 4 minutes, 57.08 seconds. Hall finished 14th in the same race with a 4:59.17.

Idaho wrapped up Thursday in eighth place with a score of 145.

King and Hall both won two events against Seattle University earlier this month.

The Vandals reached ninth place in the 200-yard medley relay and fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Jernigan’s third-place performance in the 200-yard breaststroke was the headline of day three for Idaho. Jernigan’s time of 2:14.66 broke the Idaho record.

King placed 10th in the 1,650-yard freestyle event, Magrino placed seventh in the 200-yard backstroke and Kliewer finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle.
