The Idaho swim team finished in ninth place with 544 points and broke two school records at the Phil Hansel Invitational Thursday to Saturday in Houston.
The Vandals began with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. They finished seventh in the 400-yard medley relay.
Freshmen Erica King and Sarah Hall had strong individual scores in their events. King finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle, setting a new school record with a time of 4 minutes, 57.08 seconds. Hall finished 14th in the same race with a 4:59.17.
Idaho wrapped up Thursday in eighth place with a score of 145.
King and Hall both won two events against Seattle University earlier this month.
On Friday, freshman Clothilde Peseux placed 11th in the 400-yard individual medley.
Freshman Emily Kliewer won the B-Final of the 100-yard butterfly and King placed 13th in the 200-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Cara Jernigan placed eighth in the A-Final race of the 100-yard breaststroke and fellow sophomore Allie Magrino placed 13th in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Vandals reached ninth place in the 200-yard medley relay and fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Jernigan’s third-place performance in the 200-yard breaststroke was the headline of day three for Idaho. Jernigan’s time of 2:14.66 broke the Idaho record.
King placed 10th in the 1,650-yard freestyle event, Magrino placed seventh in the 200-yard backstroke and Kliewer finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle.
Next, the Vandals take to the pool at the U.S. Winter Nationals Dec. 2-5 in Federal Way, Washington.
