Vandal Dads in town for the annual Dads” Weekend events will see the same traditions with a few twists.
The football game will start at a later time on Saturday, at 6 p.m., allowing students to spend a full day visiting with their Dads. There will also be the addition of the Tradition Keeper”s Amazing Race.
A series of tasks for Dads and their students, the race will teach participants about school traditions around campus. In the Vandalstore, participants can purchase a Tradition Keeper book to get proof they have been to all of UI historic landmarks.
As part of Dads” Weekend, UI will host the Downtown Moscow Block Party Friday evening.
“(Dads” Weekend) will be really fun,” said SArb Dads” Weekend Chair Rosemary Coldsnow. “I think out of all the events, that downtown Moscow Block Party will probably be the best. It”s a great mix of youth and the community.”
The events continue Saturday with a golf tournament, a Vandal Meats Tour at 10 a.m., a beer tasting at 1 p.m. and tailgating at 3 p.m. in the new Idaho Fan Zone.
“This is kind of the first time in the school year where (parents) get to come back after having dropped their kids off for school.” Coldsnow said. “It”s kind of a big deal.”
After a weekend filled with activities and tradition, students will be able to end Dads” Weekend with a Farewell Breakfast at 6 a.m. Sunday in the Bruce Pitman Center.
