Worst types of food to order on Valentine’s Day
Tomorrow is a day for lovers, but a love affair between two people can disappear in a few short hours if you pick the wrong place to go.
Here’s the definitive list of places to avoid on Valentine’s Day.
An obvious no-go would be any fast food joint. Seriously, even if it’s Chipotle or something equally as delicious, don’t do it. If money is tight, take the $15 you would have spent on a couple of combo meals and make something home-cooked and thoughtful. There’s nothing less attractive than the leftover taste of a Beefy Five-Layer Burrito marinating in your mouth. There are cheap ways to do Valentine’s Day, but this is not one of them.
Another not-so-obvious dinner choice to avoid would be anything specializing in pasta or spaghetti. While it may seem classier and upscale, it doesn’t take away from the fact that there’s no possible way to eat spaghetti in an attractive manner. A lot of couples have been together long enough to look past this, but new couples may not be so impressed.
On a broader note, be sure to avoid anything “themed” unless it’s something the couple can mutually bond over. If you’re a meat-loving country person dating a vegan city person, a trip to Buffalo Wild Wings or a steakhouse is an awful idea. A general rule of thumb is to remember Valentine’s Day is about the person you’re with, not just you.
Foreign food is a gray area for Valentine’s Day. If you know Chinese cuisine inside and out, there may be less reason for concern.
However, if Valentine’s Day is your first time trying something completely foreign, it could either be awesome or absolutely terrible. Sometimes, it’s better to know exactly what you’re ordering than to take the adventurous route. Better safe than sorry.
Now that you know which places to avoid, make a set of bold reservations at a restaurant you and your date can enjoy together. Valentine’s Day is a time for celebration, love and bonding. Making the right dinner choice is the best way to commemorate such an occasion.
