Although I am disturbed and distressed about the tragedies that unfolded Saturday, it makes me feel better seeing all of the signs around Moscow remembering and honoring the victims. Moscow is a strong community that unites in good times, and in bad. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.

I grew up here. These are my people. This is my town. It’s been through tragedy and faced death before — perhaps more than any small town should have to endure. But every time, this community — the university and the city — come together in a way that makes me swell with pride that I can say, “I come from here.” My thoughts and my heart are with the victims and the families during this time.

It’s impossible to not feel sorrow at the violence and loss that came out of Saturday’s shooting in Moscow. However, the outpouring of love and support from the Moscow community gives me hope. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who were impacted by the shooting.
