The Vandal soccer team lost its first game in the Big Sky Conference Friday as Montana beat them in overtime 1-0.
The loss was the Vandals fourth overtime game of the season, which they are 0-2-1 in.
Despite the loss, the Vandals maintain their second place position in the conference by way of a win over Northern Arizona, the third place team, last weekend.
The goal was scored in overtime by Montana’s senior defender Brooke Moody in the 96th minute on a penalty kick in the Idaho box.
Torrell Stewart had another nice outing, recording three saves on the day.
The Grizzlies outshot the Vandals 18-5 overall, five of those Montana shots game from Hallie Winder. The Meridian, Idaho native gave the Vandal defense fits all day long with three of the five shots on goal.
No Idaho player took more than one shot with sophomore midfielder Alyssa Lloyd, freshmen forward Bret Baysinger, sophomore defender Gabby Leong, sophomore midfielder and freshmen forward Olivia Baggerly recorded shots for the Vandals.
The Vandals will look to get back on the winning track Sunday when they travel to Cheney, Wash to face Eastern Washington.
