Moscow band finds success beyond the Palouse
Fueled by crushing breakdowns and a dueling sing/scream vocal style, The Persevering Promise is a Moscow-born metal-core band that’s making waves across the U.S.
In a couple of weeks, they’ll be embarking on a west-coast U.S. tour with Consider Me Dead that will run from Arizona, up to Washington, and back down through Boise, Salt Lake, and other cities. The band has toured across the U.S. and even has a record deal with Sony RED.
Haven’t heard of them?
They’ve actually only played in Moscow once, which was at Hot Topic a few years ago for a back to school promotion. Since then, they’ve made it their central goal to get their name out of the Palouse.
The Persevering Promise has a style that could be considered similar to a lot of other big names in the metal scene right now. If you’re a fan of groups like Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive or Blessthefall, then this band might be right up your alley.
Over the past few years, the group has played shows with bands like No Bragging Rights, Chunk, No! Captain Chunk, and Texas In July. They’ve also headlined in many different states across the country.
“Our parents pretty much wanted us to have the stereotypical American life, going to school, and having a 9 to 5 job,” vocalist Jesse Barton remarked, when asked about the band name. “That wasn’t really an acceptable life for us. The persevering promise is basically a promise we made to ourselves to persevere until we reach our dreams, which is making music and influencing tomorrow’s youth.”
The band has stuck to their word and they’ve trekked across the U.S. to get that name out. They’ve spent the past few summers with Vans’ Warped Tour and hope to gain more popularity as time goes on.
Despite not having played in the Palouse region since their early days, The Persevering Promise hopes to play a show here in the future.
When asked, they noted the possibility of a show at John’s Alley sometime before or after their upcoming tour, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
If you want to catch the band on their upcoming tour, there are dates in Spokane on Oct. 20 and Boise on Oct. 21.
