Signing day is Feb. 5 and Paul Petrino is largely done filling up his list of commits of players joining the football program in 2014.
By my count there are 13 new players who enrolled in the program this January as either 2014 signees or grayshirts who will be applied to the class of 2013 or 2014.
Confirmed by the University of Idaho are grayshirt enrollees:
RB Isaiah Saunders (2013)
RB Nolan Hoiness (2014)
LB Tony Lashley (2013)
OL Patrick Johnson (2014)
WR Peter Kimble (2014)
Saunders, Lashley and Johnson won’t be announced on Feb. 5, since they were announced during last February’s signing day.
The two grayshirts being applied to the class of 2014 join the eight junior college signees from last December.
Uncommitted prospect Aaron Price visited Idaho on Jan. 24 but without a commitment. Linebacker Travis Hutchinson of Atlantic Coast HS in Jacksonville, Fl. and former teammate of Richard Montgomery will make his official visit to Moscow on Jan. 31.
Currently, there are 14 verbal commitments from high school and junior college prospects. Some are slotted to grayshirt and enroll in January 2015. This is all tentative. Verbal commitments are absolutely non-binding and the week leading up to signing day is when a lot of mind-changing and de-committing happens.
One of the biggest verbals came Wednesday morning when junior college defensive tackle Alfonso Hampton made his commitment. Rated 4-stars by ESPN, the 24-year old didn’t start playing football until arriving at the junior college level.
Here is our compiled table of recruits. We’ll have more as the week of recruiting madness goes on.
