Alyssa Charlston — women’s basketball
Senior Alyssa Charlston had a stellar weekend in Chicago for the women’s basketball team, getting two double-doubles in consecutive days. On Friday, Charlston went 9-15 scoring two 3-pointers and going 3-3 in free throws for a total of 22 points matching her career-high. She also had four offensive rebounds and seven defensive for a total of 11 rebounds earning the 20th double-double of her career.
“I thought Alyssa could really do some damage inside tonight,” Idaho coach Jon Newlee said. “They were not nearly as big as the Zags inside. When she goes up against somebody her size or a little bit bigger, she has great moves inside and she was then able to step out and hit a couple of three’s and loosen up the defense a little more. They had no answer for Alyssa Charlston tonight.”
On Saturday, Charlston put in an almost equally impressive showing. She put up 10 points going 4-15 from the field and going 2-2 on free throws as well as nabbing 11 rebounds.
Conner Hill — men’s basketball
Junior Conner Hill led the Vandals to a 78-64 win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday. Hill scored 22 points against NNU tying his career-high. Hill went 7-12 for the night scoring three 3-pointers and hitting all five of his free throws. Hill scored a four-point play pulling a foul on one of his 3-pointers and connecting on the ensuing free throw.
On Wednesday, the Vandals played against the Oklahoma Sooners. Hill went 2-5 on 3-pointers and scored one free throw. He had seven points in the Vandals 85-65 loss to the Sooners in Oklahoma.
Ali Forde — volleyball
Dual-sport athlete Ali Forde returned to the volleyball court this week in a dominating performance. On Thursday, she had a personal-best 12 kills with a .529 hitting percentage against Chicago State. While her performance on Thursday was the best in her short career at Idaho. She put in an even better showing on Saturday against Missouri-Kansas City. On Saturday, Forde started the first game of her career as a Vandal volleyball player and had her best performance of the year. Forde led Idaho in kills for their fourth consecutive win with 15 and had a hitting percentage of .375.
