Idaho’s picture at quarterback is a little more clear than it was yesterday.
Taylor Davis took first team reps and Josh McCain was in full pads, practicing and throwing. Chad Chalich was in pads with a red jersey and didn’t throw.
McCain will be in the running for some playing time on Saturday against Old Dominion, but Petrino said it will likely be Davis getting the start on senior day.
“I think he looks good, I think he looks like he’s a little rusty, hasn’t done some stuff, but he’s still fast,” Petrino said of McCain. “He’s throwing the ball fine so I think it’s a matter of see how it goes the rest of the week and then we’ll make our decision.”
For Petrino, this senior day will different than most he’s participated in as an assistant coach. The group of seniors he inherited is a small portion of the would-be seniors from last season.
“They’re just part of us coming to work every single day and getting better,” Petrino said. “And we have gotten a lot better so I’ll always be thankful and do everything I can for what they did.”
Other notes:
– Defensive end Quinton Bradley was suited up and practicing. Petrino said it’s the most his best pass-rusher has been able to do since he injured his shoulder against Northern Illinois.
– Cornerback Solomon Dixon sat out. He was injured against Texas State.
– Roman Runner was practicing at safety today. Petrino said the senior wide-out came to him and asked if he could help out on defense. Runner will practice there the rest of the week and could see playing time there against Old Dominion.

question for you: How's Linehan looking? Will he compete for the QB gig next year? Any other youngsters standing out? Thanks,
