Two resolutions were passed, a bill was postponed and senators debated for nearly an hour and a half — the first floor debate of the semester — at Wednesday’s ASUI senate meeting.
F13-02, a resolution authored by Sen. Grady Hepworth to increase lighted outdoor recreation space barely passed by a 5-4 vote with two absent senators, two abstentions and the deciding vote casted by ASUI Vice President Taylor Williams.
Resolution F13-03 — which addresses ASUI support for religious head coverings to be worn in driver license photos — was passed by an 8-2 vote after Rebecca Beesley spoke in open forum about the DMV incident that made her feel discriminated against.
Also, the vote for bill F13-11 to change the GPA requirement for ASUI elected positions was postponed. In addition to the postponement, students came to the open forum to speak in opposition of the bill.
