Men’s Golf tied for eighth through two rounds
The Idaho men’s golf team traveled to Carey, N.C., to compete in the Wolfpack Collegiate Monday to Tuesday. The Vandals were not only competing against the rest of the field, but also battling the humidity too, which got all the way up to 95 percent on Monday.
Through two rounds of play on Monday, the Vandals sit tied for eighth, firing a 581 collectively.
Junior Aaron Cockerill is leading the Vandals and is tied for 12th with a 2-under-par 142.
Next for the Vandals is sophomore Rylee Iacolucci who is tied for 27th with a 1-over-par 145. He is followed by freshman Jared du Toit tied for 37th with a 2-over-par 146, sophomore Scott Riley tied for 549th with a 4-over-par 148 and Scott McMullen tied for 77th with a 10-over-par 154 10.
The Vandals conclude the tournament when they take to the course Tuesday for the final round.
Oster eyeing top spot
Kaitlyn Oster had three birdies in her opening round at the Price Give Em Five Intercollegiate to finish tied for third at the end of day one on Monday.
The Idaho women’s golf team is sitting in ninth place out of 14 schools, at the end of round one in Las Cruces, N.M.
Along with Oster’s stellar round, where she shot a 2-under-par 70, to put her tied for third, the other Vandals came in as followed: Cassie McKinley tied for 24th with a 3-over-par 75, Kristin Strankman tied for 53rd with a 7-over-par 79, Leilanie Kim tied for 59th with an 8-over-par 80 and Amy Hasenoehrl tied for 64th with an 9-over-par 81 to round out the Vandal top five.
The women’s golf team continues the tournament Tuesday and Wednesday.
