Paul Petrino rounds out football staff…again.

A little over a month after two Idaho coaches departed from the program, Idaho coach Paul Petrino has filled those spots.

Eric Brown and Byron “Bam” Hardmon formally joined the football program Thursday.

Brown will take over the linebackers, Hardmon will oversee the defensive line.

Brown, first reported by coachingsearch.com a few weeks ago, joins Idaho from Indiana State where he coached outside linebackers. He was with current Idaho DC Ronnie Lee while at Indiana State.

Prior to joining Indiana State Brown was at Fresno State where he played linebacker then joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

“He’s probably one of the greatest young minds in college football,” Petrino said.

Hardmon joins Idaho from Charleston Southern, but previously had a coaching stint at Illinois while Petrino was offensive coordinator there. Hardmon is a former Florida linebacker, having played for Ron Zook in the swamp and then following him up to Illinois as a coach.

“He has great connections in Florida, the southeast,” Petrino said. “I’m real excited to have him on my staff.”

This rounds out the staff following the departures of Mike Anderson and Patrick Libey in April. The two coaches left to pursue other opportunities, the University said.
