For the past decade now the greater Seattle area has proven to be a hot-bed for prep basketball talent. So it’s no surprise that in a crossroads-year of his Idaho tenure that Idaho coach Don Verlin has attacked the area extra hard in order to bring talent to Moscow.
He surely accomplished that by getting Bothell high school star Perrion Callandret in the early signing period. The athletic shooting guard probably would have garnered more offers had he waited to sign in the late signing period. Luckily for Idaho, he didn’t.
He and his best friend, Nevada football signee Tere’ Calloway, put together a documentary which chronicles the journey the two have taken from growing up in east Seattle to now heading off to become Division I athletes.
In the documentary Callandret delves into the issues at home that led him north of Seattle to Bothell, where he lived with and played alongside UCLA-bound Zach Lavine.
Resources considered, this was an impressive and well put-together piece by the two and I definitely encourage you to watch it.
Unfortunately we can’t embedded the video, but click here to view it in its entirety.
Another note – In the video it’s asserted that Callandret’s brother, point guard Glen Dean, will be transferring to Idaho from Utah as previously reported by the Salt Lake Tribune. However, Idaho still has yet to confirm this.
