Highlights of the Vandal road schedule include a trip to Pullman for the Cougar Indoor and a trip to Seattle for the Husky Classic. The WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be Feb. 21-23, in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Vandal men won the WAC Indoor Championship last year while the women finished second.
Three Vandals earn WAC honors
Trey Farquhar (kicker), Gary Walker (safety) and Bobby Cowan (punter) earned all-WAC honors earlier this week. Farquhar and Walker were named to the first team while Cowan was a second-team selection.
Farquhar, a senior, is a Lou Groza Award semifinalist this year and was a Groza Award Watch list member last year. He leaves Idaho as its best kicker of all-time. Farquhar owns the Idaho record of field goals of 50 or more yards with 11. His career long is 55 yards. He also holds the records for field goal percentage (71.4), field goals attempted (84) and field goals made (60).
Walker, also a senior, led the Vandals in tackles this season with 99. He was second on the team last year with 109 and ranks 12th all-time at Idaho.
Cowan is the career punting average leader (44.7), the record-holder for career punts (259) and the leader in career punting yards (11,570). Last year, the senior broke the single-season record for punting yards (4,084) and tied the record for single-season punts (88).
Men’s tennis brings in transfer
Native of Jakarta, Indonesia, Ivan Krijanto will be a Vandal this spring after playing three seasons at Lewis-Clark State College.
“Ivan is a great addition to our program for this spring, giving us depth and experience playing at a high level,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “He has competed for LCSC the past three years, which is a top nationally ranked NAIA team, and I am looking for him to make an impact in both singles and doubles. Over the past few years he has given us some really tough singles and doubles matches.»
Jakarta will study business at Idaho.
