This recipe is pretty simple. There is only one thing you need: an apple tree, fully laden with fruit ready for the taking. I found mine in the backyard of my apartment.
Applesauce can also be made from store bought apples, although not as exciting. For those with meal plans, applesauce is a great use for any apples that you manage to smuggle out of Bob’s.
Many people overlook apples that might be a bit wormy or bruised, but I say, “Embrace them!” It’s easy enough to cut off an apple’s blemishes and utilize its good parts in this simple and easy treat.
How To:
- Fill a pot with peeled and cored apples
- Add a couple inches of water to the bottom
- Cook on the stove (around medium-low) for about an hour or until apples are mushy, stirring occasionally.
- For flavor, add cinnamon and sugar to taste.
