The #4 ranked Vandals head down to the golden state to take on the #14 ranked UC Davis Aggies on Saturday. The Vandals, who have won three games in a row, look to keep their win streak going and gain their third ranked win against their Big Sky rivals. The Vandals are the only team in the entire FCS to have more than one win against ranked teams.

The Vandals have played only one home game thus far in the season, that game being a win against UAlbany. This Saturday’s game will be their fourth away game out of the seven they will play this season (excluding potential playoff games). Idaho has also not beaten UC Davis since rejoining the Big Sky. When talking about the challenges on the road Coach Eck told reporters:

“That which does not kill you, makes you stronger. So, I think going on the road for these games will help us be a stronger team overall.”

The Aggies boast a great passing offense, ranked second in the Big Sky, that has accumulated over 1000 passing yards, six touchdowns, and averages 272.8 yards per game (YPG). Their defense also is second in the Big Sky in interceptions, with five, through the four games they have played.

The Vandals, however, have a strong defense, one that is second in the Big Sky in sacks, and held #3 ranked Oregon to 24 points, Wyoming to 13 points, and FCS rival UAlbany to 13 as well. While offense of Abilene Christian was able comeback, the Vandals defense forced a fumble on the last drive, sealing the game, and the Vandals walked away with the close win.

The Jack Wagner led offense, has also found its groove, and is primed to take on the tight Aggie secondary. Wagner, who stepped in for injured starting QB Jack Layne, has performed far above expectations thus far. Wagner boasts a 44-yard touchdown last week and currently sits with a 124.8 passer rating.

The Vandals will take on the UC Davis Aggies at 7 p.m. in Davis, California on ESPN+.
